The worldwide Augustana College experience

Hey! My Name is Aurora Graze. I am going into my second year here at Augie, and I am an international business major. Im going to Ecuador this summer to study Spanish, and while I’m down there I plan on having lots of fun adventures! There are so many things I’m looking forward to, like standing in the Northern and Southern hemispheres on the same time, and shopping, lots and lots of shopping, and of course experiencing the culture as well. Anyway, I can’t wait to get started and share my travel stories. Lets go!

Gualaceo, Chordeleg, and cooking class!

Last Sunday, the day after our canyoning adventures, the whole group took a trip to Chordeleg, the capital of the Azuay province of Ecuador, and Gualaceo to go shopping! Chordeleg is known for their artesenias, especially for their silver. First we stopped at a house where they make the jewelry. It was really fun trying […]

New adventures!

Hey guys! I have had a very exciting couple of weeks! Since my last blog I have gone to the jungle, broke my computer, seen a festival at a local church, learned about superstitions and had the best pizza in the whole world. Oh! And  I went canyoning too! We the for La Selva  at […]

The Best and Worst of Ecuador …

So I have had quite an interesting weekend … I ended up not going to the party because it was changed to a different day and I’ll be in the jungle when it happens so no party for me. Oh well, I’m not heart-broken, I would have been the only gringa there anyways. Instead, I […]

A weekend of traditions!

It’s official. I’m sick. I have a terrible cough and I can’t stop sneezing. I don’t know what it is because I’m sure it’s not from food but it needs to go. I have things to do. Last weekend, the group traveled to Ingapirca and the Incan ruins were sooo beautiful! It was a very […]

La gente …

Hola! Wow it’s been a while since I’ve blogged! Where to begin … Every day here is a new adventure. There are always new things to discover in Cuenca. The markets are by far my favorite 🙂 I can’t help myself, I love shopping. I convinced my teachers to take me on field trips last […]

A day in the life …

Hello again! Today is my second day of classes and I finally got my schedule down. I’m only taking two classes: language and grammar. Yesterday, my friend Anna and I were walking home from school and we got so lost! It took us about and hour to get home when usually it’s only a 20 […]

So much has happened!!!

Hey everyone! I have arrived safely in Ecuador and it has been an absolute blast! I love it here! And though I miss everyone, I’m not homesick … yet. I haven’t met my host family yet but I get to tomorrow evening. On Thursday we went to la Mitad del Mundo! It was so cool! […]

Hi everyone! I just got settled in my hotel here in Quito, Ecuador. The internet here is not that great but that’s not important. What’s really important is that I didn’t die on the plane or get lost or have to deal with missing luggage. I’m very fortunate for that. Tonight we went to a […]
