A window inside life at Augustana College

Week One = Done.

Well, I’m so glad to have survived my first week of college!  A ton of homework, yes, but some really awesome professors!  I’m amazed that most of them are less than 40 years old. (One of them, I swear, doesn’t even look old enough to have a Ph.D.  I literally sat in my seat and thought, “Wait a second!  One of the reasons I came here was so I WOULDN’T have grad students teaching me!”)  I absolutely love it here at Augie; even though I still feel a bit homesick, I know this place is going to be my second home.

I just can’t help but think about the one thing I miss most, though. . .

Yes, I miss my Little Shit (Howie).  I even miss him being a butt head and trying to eat my cereal in the morning.  When my parents and I left for the Radisson in Moline the night before I moved in, this stinker was sitting in the bushes in our front yard and refused to move.  I didn’t get to say goodbye to my baby, which makes me so sad.  And a stupid fish in my dorm room could never make the longing I have for my cat any better.  Actually, I keep hearing about all these people and how their fish have already died.  What a nice pet.  That is just one of the many reasons why I only like fish when they’re on my dinner plate.  Anyway, I can’t wait to go home next week for Labor Day so I can see Howie (and my parents and grandma); I miss him more than I miss my parents right now, which is really saying something.  Even though I will probably only see him for a total of one hour that whole weekend, (he would much rather explore the neighborhood than cuddle with me) that hour will be cherished very much so.
