Letter #1: Dear Mama,

Letter #1:
January 19th, 2012
Dear Mama,
When I first got the text message that said “call me,” I was actually quite nervous that I was in trouble for something. It was around 5:30pm and I was sitting in my office in Denkmann on Thursday, January 19th. I called the house, and dad answered the phone. I said that you wanted me to call you, so he said okay and handed you the phone. There was so much sadness in your voice, and my mood completely changed, as I knew that something was wrong. I thought that someone had died, but never once did it come to my head what you had to say. Once the words came through the phone, I was instantly in tears, only thinking the worst. I was speechless–I did not know what to say. I was torn apart, and broke down immediately after we ended our short conversation. I did not know what to do, but I immediately texted Jessie telling her that I need to talk to her. Luckily, she was actually upstairs, just getting out of choir rehersal. Sarah and her came down, and were able to try and help me feel better. I went home with her and tried to calm down, I looked terrible, and got into the room to the boys, and told them what I had just found out, and they tried to console me a little and let me know that everything would work out. I wanted to believe what they said, but knowing me, I expected the worst. I was able to make it through dinner and went back to my room with Jessie. We hung out and tried to get rid of the pain, but it was no use.
This was day #1 and it was tough, but I made it through.
I love you mom always and forever,

Your Son
