DIY: Braided Headband

I use to work at this accessory store in the mall and a new trend are these really cute braided headbands. I thought they were adorablebut not for $5.75-up…just not reasonable especially for a little strand of cloth that goes around your head. After close inspection of the headbands while I was “working” I decided that they could be an easy DIY weekend project. I searched online to see how other people had made them but many required sewing materials….I dont know about everyone else but as a college student I didn’t make it a priority to bring sewing materials with me to school and I wasn’t going to spend money on buying them either. So I continued to search online and found this little tutorial. What these girls did was use old tights for the strands that would be braided together because they are elastic-y of the material…if you use cloth that doesn’t stretch well it is going to be a tight fit on your head so if you do make these headbands use stretchy material. Bellow are the instructions and website that I got this tutorial from…good luck!

1. Cut the legs and feet off of the tights.
2. Cut the legs into thin ribbons (as thick or thin as you prefer).
3. Tie three strands into a knot on one end.
4. Braid the strands until the braided band is long enough to fit comfortable around your head.
5. Tie the ends together.
6. Trim any excess pieces.
