A window inside life at Augustana College

All new experiences…

I always love when it the time comes to start new classes. For two reasons, one because I get to try new things, and two, because I get tired of always doing the same thing so I want the old classes to end. Last week was registration week for first years here at Augie. Unlike in high school where we get assignment our classses, here in college we get to pick our own classes. Being as prepared as I like to be, I planned out my schedule almost a month before it was time for me to register. It was going to be perfect! I would have 4 classes, go to class Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and have Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Well, as upperclassmen and I now know, this didn’t work out! I had to plan out my schedule at least 5 or 6 times until I was finally happy with the few available classes. I had never had to worry about a class filling up before I got a chance to register, but I guess there’s a first time for everything! In the end, I ended up having class every day, but overall I’m pretty satisfied with my schedule, well, all except one. I’ll be taking Spanish, LSFY, Photography, and History. Can you guess which one I’m not excited about?…Yup, History!
On to another note, last week was also Homecoming Week at Augie! I always loved spirit week in high school, but it is much better in college! I went to all of the events except one, and that was because my family came to visit. When I saw the fliers about Sing and Yell, I had no idea what to expect. Watching all of the performances made me even more excited about joining a sorority, and I hope to next year participate in both of these events! 🙂
