A window inside life at Augustana College

It’s Homecoming but, I’m not going Home

So I haven’t written a blog in a very long time, because I have been extremely busy and 24 hours in a day just isn’t enough. The school year is off and running and I’m still trying to catch up. Its like being in a race and getting a bad start, right from the beginning you’re using so much energy trying to catch up to the one guy that had a really good start.

Between classes and everything else I have going on, I treat the little free time, and sleep I get like gold. You know its bad when you come into your room sit down on the futon and fall asleep in the middle of a text or conversation with another person. I totally understand how my 94 year old grandmother could fall asleep in the middle of talking to me now. The worst part is when you are nodding off in class and you catch yourself doing that awkward jerk when you wake back up. The first thing you do is look around to see if any of your classmates saw, then you look to the front and your professor is staring right at you; and no matter how hard you try its like its physically impossible to keep your eyes open, and you do the same thing over again. (Apologies to my teachers!)  It’s week 6 already so time is flying by, but on the bright Homecoming is right around the corner.

There are some many things throughout the week, starting with Homecoming kick off, then the rope pull, talent show, Yell, Sing, and the Regatta race throughout the week. All leading up to the biggest game of the year Saturday Augustana Vs North Central (Vikings got this on lock). Whether you’re a freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, Greek or non Greek its going to be a good time. There is nothing like Augustana Homecoming week. So I encourage all of you to check the Homecoming activities this week, especially Yell and Sing. I heard there is this one Fraternity that has some really good routines planned for both.

P.S. Make sure you check out the Roundel Bash, all school party this Friday. Augustana’s own Jeremy Hoffman will open the show, followed by The Funky Monks (Red Hot Chili Peppers cover band). Its going to be a great time. Pick starts at 730 outside of Erikson and Swason. Shirts are on sell until tomorrow and there may be some sold on buses. Hope to see you all there.

Goal of the Week: Make time for yourself!
