A window inside life at Augustana College

The sun is shining, the birds are singing…

…and yet the homework must go on!

Our new spring term finally feels like spring! Today it was so sunny and warm enough outside not to wear a jacket! I even took a nap in the sun with my window open to let some of that fresh spring air in. It always seems like Augie students come out of the walls on days like this- there are people everywhere! People reading outside, playing frisbee on the quad, or riding their bike to class. It’s only a matter of days until “Augie Beach” opens up next to Pepsico and everyone tries to trade in their pale winter skin for a bright summer tan!

My spring break wasn’t really either of those things (springy or break-y). I was on tour with the Symphonic Band for 10 days, and tour with the handbell choir for another 3 days. Luckily I was able to make it home for a little while in between there to see my family and catch up on my sleep. And laundry (thanks, Mom!)

I’m really excited about my spring term. I have a new client for CSD clinic, an older man with aphasia, which is ultimately the population that I would like to be working with when I get out of grad school. It is sure to be a challenge, but I hope to learn a lot and confirm that this is the direction I want to go with my life.

I am also working in the psychology department’s rat lab this term. I know, it sounds a little strange, but I have always had a strange affinity for rodents, so I am looking forward to it. This week I am just cleaning the lab and then next week the rats come! I’m sure there will be many more blogs about their cute little antics.

Well I’d love to stay and chat, but it’s just about time for clogging. We’ve got our spring clogging convention coming up, which is guaranteed to be a lot of fun!

Hope you all are enjoying the weather!
