A window inside life at Augustana College

Name: Sarah Swindall “Swin”
Year: Senior
Major: English
Interesting Facts: I am President of the Augustana Quidditch Team and I talk about this sport almost every single day. I love to read and I am Harry Potter obsessed. I pride myself on the fact that I am the nerdiest person that I know. In my spare time when I’m not in class or playing Quidditch I enjoy writing fiction and poetry, vlogging on YouTube, and frequenting Starbucks. One of my favorite ways to pass the time is convincing various coffee shop employees that I am from Scotland. This time next year I will be teaching English to High Schoolers in Slovakia, a place where I don’t know the language and have near to zero contacts. Normally, this would be terrifying, but I am excited to start a brand new adventure. Augustana has become my home away from home. I met my best friends here, fell in love with learning here, and discovered who I want to be.

The Multitude of Nerddom

Augustana has never ceased to amaze me with its multitude of clubs offered to students. Recently I was called to appear in a photo for the Augustana website that had the presidents of new student organizations in it. We were asked to bring a prop that represented our organization so that we could be identified […]

Rock ’em Sock ’em Robots: A MOVIE

For all you movie-goers out there, I have a recommendation for you… Real Steel. This movie combines the awesome action of robot fighting and the plot development that Transformers always seemed to miss. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE me some Transformers, but anyone can see that the producers of that film were aiming more […]

An Awfully Big Adventure

Many students worry that when they go to college, their first time really away from home, that they will get homesick. In most circumstances, this is not the case. Of course, you will miss your parents and your pets and the use of a private bathroom, but college life will be so enchanting the first […]
