A window inside life at Augustana College

Hi! My name is Katrina Jensen, and I am a senior at Augustana. I am double majoring in communication sciences & disorders and psychology. I am also involved in a number of activities on campus including playing my French horn in Symphonic Band, Campus Ministries, Clogustana, Admissions Ambassadors and Peer Mentors and the Augustana Student Speech and Hearing Association. In the summer of 2009, I traveled to Singapore and Thailand where I participated in a volunteer abroad program. Click here to read about my travels.

Bonjorno from Roma!!! Hello all! Finally have access to the internet again, so here’s the short version of what we’ve been up to- Venice- gorgeous, took a tour of a historical palace that had beautiful art and had a little time to explore the city, shop, and eat, before hopping back on the buses to […]

A Valentines Day Blog-Off

Well friends, it’s officially been a whole term since my last blog entry (I always seem to find inspiration during finals week to write something, procrastination, maybe?). Along with persistent prodding from my father, my main motivation for writing this entry came from fellow blogger Matt Hallberg. We were at chapel one night and Matt […]

Senior Moments

No, not the kind where you accidentally wear two different shoes out of the house in the morning and don’t realize it until lunch time! I’m talking about little events that have been happening in the last few months that remind me how far I have come in the last three years and how short […]

You call it busy; I call it blessed

Stop a random Augustana student on the quad and ask how their day is going, and I guarantee you nine times out of ten the answer will be “Busy!” followed by a sigh. If prodded a little, the person can probably easily give you their schedule of events for the day, one right after another, […]

Hello from Detroit, Michigan! I am writing to you from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) World Hunger Leaders Convention! Fellow Augie student, Claire Behnke, and I were selected to go to this nation-wide convention because we are leading a group on campus that helps to promote hunger awareness and raise money for ELCA […]

Downtown Rock Island smells like cheese.

Tonight was the big celebration event for Augie’s 150th anniversary. It was a massive celebration of the connection between Augustana and our beloved hometown of Rock Island, IL and in good Augie style, it was perfectly cheesy! I had a great view of the whole thing from my seat in the band and for those […]

3 years ago today…

… I drove into the parking lot of Andreen Hall and started the process of making Augustana College my home. I was a little nostalgic this morning as I realized this fact. It seems as if the last 3 years have flown by and yet I feel as if I am a totally different person […]

Final week in Houston!

Hey all, My summer in Houston is coming to an end, but it seems like there is still so much to do before my plane leaves on Saturday! For our final projects, we are required to prepare a research paper as well as a presentation of our findings. While this is not necessarily that difficult […]

A peek behind the curtain

You know that feeling when you’re sitting in the audience at a theater production waiting for the show to begin and then all of a sudden the curtain opens, just a little at first but then becomes wider and wider revealing the very beginnings of all the excitement about to unfold? My past week has […]
